La Vuelta, the Tour of Spain Cycling Race, coming to Esparron – it’s no hoax! The second stage, between Monaco and Manosque, will indeed pass through our town, as shown on the attached map, travelling via Quinson, Esparron-de-Verdon and Gréoux-les-Bains before reaching Manosque.

With nearly 180 riders, plus the teams’ cars and the numerous vehicles belonging to the organisers, this represents a major operation, particularly as the stage will take place on a Sunday during the summer.

To ensure the safety of everyone — riders, support staff, residents of Esparron, spectators and tourists — exceptional security and traffic management measures will be put in place.

All intersections between minor roads and the race route will be temporarily closed to traffic. Depending on the area, these intersections will be monitored either by police officers or by volunteer marshals specially deployed for the occasion.

Traffic will therefore be prohibited on all roads used by the race from 3.00 pm until 5.30 pm.

These times are indicative and may be adjusted depending on the progress of the race and safety conditions. The police may, if necessary, extend the restrictions or allow certain vehicles to pass on an ad hoc basis.
